Project Overview
The slope was too steep to mow and was shedding soil into the lawn after every heavy rain. Terracing it with natural stone solved both problems and turned the wasted area into planting space.
Each wall was built on compacted aggregate with drainage stone and fabric behind the face, so water moves down and out rather than building pressure behind the stone through a freeze-thaw winter.
Boulder steps set into the grade give a safe route between levels. They are seated individually and pinned into the slope, with tread heights kept consistent so the run walks comfortably.
